part 1. Korea Marriage migrant visa(F-6)

 

 

Please note that this is my personal experience of obtaining the Mirriage visa (F-6) in South Korea in Feb, 2019.  So there might be some changes, and it may vary from case to case.

 

I'm Korean, and I did all these process for my husband who is from South America. 

 

I understand it is not easy at all to apply for Korea visas, and there are not much informative posts online. 

 

Just writing this review for my personal memory, and help some people who look for this visa information.

In our case, my husband was already in Korea with the visa waiver(temporary stay for 90days). 

 

Basically, you need to apply for the f-6 visa from your home country. 

 

There was no way to change his visa from the visa waiver to marriage visa in Korea.

 

 I found some posts online that some people applied and got this visa from countries in Asia, such as Japan and Vietnam, and it was not their home country. 

 

We firstly tried to go to Japan to visit the Korean embassy in Japan because it's the nearest country. However, he couldn't apply for Japan Tourist visa in South Korea since they don't allow foreigners who hold a temporary visa in Korea to apply for Japan visa in Korea. 

 

 

 

 

 

Therefore, we chose to go to Singapore to visit the embassy of Republic of Korea in Singapre in order to apply his marriage visa. 

 

Before we made a decision, I sent an email and confirmed all required documents and the possibility. 

 

Fortunately, we got a very kind reply from the embassy, and it was possible as long as we meet all the requirements and prepare all documents properly.

 

 

So we flew to Singapre :)
