Before we left, we prepared all the documents and print out everything in Korea. Since it is difficult to get official documents outside of country, we tried to check and prepare as much as we could. Also, took some extra documents with us just in case.
The documents will vary depending on your situation and background. This is the list of documents that we prepared for this visa.
1. Visa application form with 2 passport size photos
2. Passport
3. A letter of guarantee from inviter
4. Marriage Migrant Invitation Letter
5. Marriage Migrant Personal Statement written in either Korean or English
6. Inviter's Basic Certificate
7. Inviter's Family Relation Certificate
8. Inviter's Copy of Resident Registration
9. Inviter's Marriage Certificate
10. Credit Information Report of inviter
11. Exception of Income documents: a certificate of entry and exit, Australian visas, Master's degree from Australia, PAYG payment summaries from Australia(both Inviter and applicant)
12. Supporting documents to prove income and assets from inviter's family
13. A copy of Business Registration Certificate, Certificate of Employment, Amount of Income Certificate (issued by the National Tax Services) from inviter's family
14. Documents proving residency requirements: A certified copy of real estate register
15. Required Documents for Communication and Language Proficiency: A copy of IELTS score reports(Inviter and applicant), a certificate of entry and exit
These are all the documents we submitted to the embassy.
In our case, we got married in Australia 5 years ago, then we have registered our marriage in Korea last year with Marriage certificate from Australia. So we submitted both certificates from Korea and Australia.
We had no income in Korea for last 10 years, since we lived in Australia. Also, we just came back to Korea, and weren't working at that time.
So instead of Amount of Income Certificate or Certificate of Employment, we submitted family's supporting documents as well as our PAYG Payment Summaries from Australia for last few years.
About 15, we both speak in English rather than each other's first language, so we only needed to prove we are fluent in English to communicate without any problems. Tha's why he didn't need to prove his Korean proficiency.
In addition, I submitted some extra pages with stories and photos of us in the chronological order.
Please refer to the official visa website to check the required documents:
After we submitted the documents and passport at the embassy in Singapore, all we could do was waiting.
However, while we waited for the result, I completely forgot that I could check the visa processing status online before we go back to collect the passport.😱
On the website below, enter your details and check.

My husband's visa was granted on the next day of application lodgement, but we could find that after a week when we went to collect his passport.
So please don't forget! If you have lodged your Korea visa, you can check that on the website.
